APC members had the great opportunity to learn more about the anatomy of the heart through the exploration of a bovine heart specimen.
Dr. Wright, retired colonel of the US Army, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon and VPMA of Mercy West Hospital lead the event. Through utilizing a large bovine heart specimen, students were able to clearly see and identify the heart anatomy.
Dr. Wright also shared about how the field of cardiovascular surgery has changed over the years and about his unique experience serving as a surgeon for the US army.
As VPMA of Mercy West Hospital, students were able to ask questions about the business aspects of medicine and learned just how complex a hospital network is.
Finally, Dr. Wright wrapped up the event by taking students through the "Heart Museum". Students were able to get an up close look at pacemaker models, valves and stents and how they have become more efficient over the years.
Thank you Dr. Wright for a great event!
