The Anatomy and Physiology Club seeks to develop and facilitate members' interest in the sciences through education and exploration

Dr. Dean Smith

Faculty Advisor

Dr. Smith is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health at Miami University.

 

He also maintains a private practice of chiropractic medicine in Eaton, Ohio. He is the founder and host of Chiropractic Science which is dedicated to publicizing chiropractic research through podcast interviews with leading chiropractic scientists.  He received the 2018 Researcher of the Year award from the American Chiropractic Association.

Adrienne Carney

Public and Professional Relations Chair

 

 

Major: Kinesiology; with a Minor in Coaching & Nutrition

​

Career Aspiration: Adrienne wants to pursue a career as a physical therapist and hopes to eventually own her own practice.

​

Passions: She is a track coach at Monroe Jr./Sr. High School & a certified personal trainer. Outside of the club, Adrienne is involved SLAM, WISL and Pre-PT/OT Club.

Ashley Hitchler

Education Chair

Major: Biology & Public Health

Career Aspiration: Ashley hopes to work at a clinical trial firm, conducting disease research

​

Passions: Outside of the club, Ashley is involved with cru ministries and is a gradu8 scholar mentor.

​

Halseighanne Thomas

Co-President

Major: Biology & Premedical Sciences

​

Career Aspiration: Halseighanne is interested in pursuing medical school. She hopes to go into Pediatrics or become an OBGYN.

Passions: Halseighanne is also involved in SWIM at Miami, guitar club and is a water fitness instructor at the rec center.

Anna Webster

Secretary

Major: Kinesiology; Pre-Medical Studies Co-Major

Career Aspiration: Anna plans to attend medical school once she finishes her undergraduate work.

​

Passions: Some of Anna's passions include teaching Kung Fu and hiking. She also enjoys running and hiking!

Education Chair

Career Aspiration: Vimal aspires to be a doctor.

Passions: He is very passionate about the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Kate Guesk

Career Aspiration: Kate hopes to go to PA school in the future, (she is still unsure about what specialty she would like to pursue).

​

Passions: She enjoys baking, cooking, trying healthy/vegan food (she is not vegan though!), her two dogs and two cats; movie nights with friends and going to the beach.

Alex Szymczak

Treasurer

Major: Economics & Biochemistry; with Neuroscience & Premedical Studies Co-Majors

Career Aspiration: Alex wants to pursue a career as an Allergist.

​

Passions: Alex enjoys hockey, football, shoes and obviously anatomy! Outside of the club, he is involved in Bioethics Club and AMSA.

Career Aspiration: Lucy has the intentions of attending medical school.

​

Passions: One of Lucy's biggest passions is helping people -one of her favorite ways to do this is through organizing and hosting blood drives!

Career Aspiration: Christian hopes to further his studies in Radiology and Surgical Medicine.

​

Passions: In addition to his duties within the Anatomy and Physiology Club, Christian is involved in community service and outreach as a Service Chair for Circle K. He also enjoys reading, painting, and watching movies with friends.

Nikki Prokos

Education Chair

Major: Nutrition, concentration in Community Studies, Minor in Spanish

Career Aspiration: Nikki hopes to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant.

​

Passions: Nikki is a certified CNA and is also heavily involved in her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, running and volunteering.

Grace Chaney

President

Major: Kinesiology, Focus in Applied Biomechanics & Premedical Sciences

​

Career Aspiration: Grace hopes to become an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon and to have Clinical Research as a major pillar of her career.

​

Passions: Grace is a National Ambassador for Stop The Bleed and the State Coordinator for Ohio. She is heavily involved with the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House and Oxford Physical Therapy and is a Primary Investigator and Research Assistant in the KNH Department.

Pamela Lewis

Major: Microbiology, Premedical Sciences

Career Aspiration: Pamela hopes to attend medical school and become a vascular surgeon.

​

Passions: In her free time, Pamela enjoys spending time with friends and watching Netflix. She is also a trained crisis counselor with Crisis Text Line and a Camp PALS ambassador.

Passions: Adam is heavily involved in his fraternity, Delta Upsilon. He enjoys playing soccer and basketball, listening to podcasts and camping.
